The purpose of this lab was to test different plants for antibacterial properties. We did this by making plant extracts based with alcohol or water and used E.coli in order to test it. My group tested mint and jade. Our jade in alcohol showed the most results. As you can see below, there is a clearing around 2, 3, and 4 meaning properties were found. Also, as expected the negative control (water) had no clearings. This lab is important because it can find new plants with antibacterial characteristics to create new medicines. I believe the others were inconclusive because there wasn't enough bacterial growth or the controls didn't work as well as expected. Some errors could include not soaking the filter paper disks for enough time in the different extracts.
