For this part of the project, we learned about different ways to attain light into a house without using electricity. The daylighting devices we focused on were skylights, light shelves, solar tubes, and clerestory windows. From this, we built a model of a house using cardboard incorporating the daylighting devices.
skylights - a window on the roof that allows light to travel inside light shelf - a window sill that reflects light onto the ceiling and into the room solar tube - a reflective tube that brings daylight into a home clerestory window - a window placed close to the top of a wall, used to bring slanted light into the room |
